Chapter 6 - Plane Crash
It was an hour into the plane trip, Mom and Dad had fallen asleep and the Flight Attendants had come by with headphones and refreshments. I got a 7up and Zac got a Dr. Pepper. Sugar was not a good idea.
Zac and I peeked over the backs of our seats, seeing that the rest of the people in first class were asleep, we uncrouched and just kneeled on the chairs.
"Do you think people would wake up if the plane was going to crash?" I whispered to Zac.
"Nah, theyd probably sleep until like three seconds before the plane hit the ground and it would like crash and they would be like what? Because theyd have just woken up and be all groggy and stuff." Zac took a deep breath.
I giggled, picturing it in my head. We turned around and pulled down our little tray things. Zac took a notebook out of his bag.
"Whats that?" I asked.
"Its my songbook/sketchpad/doodle pad."
"Cool."
Zac ripped a paper out and started folding a paper airplane. I started humming "Wild At Heart" for no reason other than I was bored. Zac elbowed me and whispered, "Stop humming The Moffatts! Now watch," he turned around in his seat and raising his arm he softly let go of the plane. It glided smoothly down the aisle and right at that moment a fight attendant held open the curtain separating first class from the rest of the plane as if she was going to walk through. Zac and I held our breath. The plane got through. We let out our breath. The curtain was dropped. I unsuccessfully tried to hold in giggles.
"Ssshhh!" Zac said, Were going to get caught if we arent quiet. I stopped giggling as the curtain moved. We both dropped back into our seats and pretended to be asleep. A Flight Attendant walked through the curtain and down the aisle. She stopped right beside us, I know this because I had one eye open partially.
Zac must have too because it was obvious he was trying not to smile.
"Zac, I know you arent really asleep," she said. I absentmindedly wondered just how she knew his name. Zac opened his eyes and started to giggle, it wasnt long before I was giggling too. "Is this yours?" she asked, holding forward the airplane with a smile on her face.
"Ah man! Caught me again!" Zac then turned to me, "We wouldnt have gotten caught if it werent for your giggling," he said with mock seriousness.
"Oh, be quiet, its not like you werent making any noise." I shoved him playfully.
The flight attendant smiled, "And who is your friend Zac?"
"Shirley meet Nikki, Nikki meet Shirley. Nikki is my sister," he explained.
Anne was confused, she thought that the Hanson brothers only had 3 sisters. "But Ive met your whole family and Ive never seen Nikki before," Anne was thoroughly confused.
"Big long story, short plane ride," I said.
"Basically, were twins separated at birth, thats why we were in Vancouver." Zac tried to explain.
"That kind of makes sense. It's far-fetched, but that makes sense. Ive got to go to the back of the plane now, duty calls! Could you guys please be a bit quieter? The rest of the passengers are trying to sleep." Shirley said.
"Don't worry, we will," we both said, smiling angelically up at her.
"Nice meeting you," I called after her retreating back.
